CarveOn belts are sized by trouser waist, not strap length. Order the size you already wear and the belt arrives sitting on the middle hole, ready from the first day.

Order the trouser size you wear.

If you wear a 34" trouser or jean, order the 34" size. We cut the strap three inches longer than the waist so it fastens on the middle hole, with room to move either way.

You do not need to add anything. The three inches are already built into every size. Order the number you wear.

The middle column is the finished strap length. It is what you get if you measure a belt you already own, which is the method in step 2. You never order that number.

If you are between two sizes, choose the larger. Trouser sizing varies between brands, and leather softens with wear. The extra inch settles in.

Already own a belt that fits? Measure that one.

Measuring a belt you already wear is the most accurate way to check. Lay it flat. Measure from the end of the strap, not including the buckle, to the hole you use most. Find that length in the middle column above, then order the size beside it.

A belt that measures 37" is a 34" size here. Measure the strap, read across, order the left-hand number.

Strap length: measured from A (end of the strap, not including the buckle) to B (the hole you currently use).

A to B is the strap length, the middle column above. Your CarveOn size is three inches smaller.

Every belt is cut with seven holes, an inch apart.

The size you order sits on the middle hole, with three holes on each side. That gives you three inches of adjustment in either direction as the leather settles. Full-grain leather softens and gives a little with wear, never the other way, so a snug first week is normal and right.

Two things to avoid.

Avoid

Ordering the length of your old belt. If the belt you measured is 37", that is the strap, not the size. Find 37" in the middle column and order the 34" beside it.

Avoid

Measuring across the buckle. Strap length is the leather alone, from where it meets the buckle to the hole you use. The buckle is never counted.

40mm of full grain leather, built for denim, chinos, and years of getting better with every wear.

The leather is vegetable tanned, from a family run tannery in Tuscany. Seven colours. It takes on a patina with wear instead of wearing out.

The buckle is solid brass, finished in brass, silver, or black. Solid metal, not hollow, so it holds its shape and its weight.

Nothing is sitting in a warehouse. Your belt is cut and finished after you order it.

If you want it engraved, that option is there. Initials, a name, or a piece of artwork, engraved permanently into the leather. On the tip where it shows, or inside beside the buckle where only you know. It costs nothing extra, and the belt is complete without it.

Personalisation

Engraving is complimentary. Choose where it goes: on the tip, where it is seen, or beside the buckle, where only you see it. Text, initials or a logo, laser-engraved into the leather so it cannot rub off. Our design team reviews every order before it is cut.
